About the Artist

Sean Joy Rosario Cabanig is a undergraduate student here at CSULB. She is working on her BFA in metals and plans to graduate before the end of this school year. She started out the school year with studying poetry, however, she did not enjoy it as much as art, so she decided to change her major into art. She lives and rents an apartment here in Long Beach. Her family live in Los Angeles. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and spent time with her boyfriend and do some more art! She is very expressive about being out there and just exploring more with things.

Formal Analysis

Her exhibition was called” All Work All Play”. Most of the stuff on her display were jewelry like rings, necklaces, an bracelets. A particular sculpture that I saw was very out there should I say. But I like that with this piece she demonstrated that she likes to explore even when it can make some people uncomfortable, but for me, I was totally fine with it. One of her necklaces had three balls hanging from it that were covered it silver, most of the necklace covered the entire neck area.

Content Analysis

She said many about her art pieces. She was inspired by the people surrounding her, the humor, and the environment. She did say as well that she can spend so much time into her pieces because she loves it so much. She does constantly repeat her advice to us which is to explore more or as much as we can. She is looking into going for her master in metals but she still hasn’t mad up her decision. She learns her techniques from the classes that she takes. She is just having fun with it.

Synthesis/ My Experience

My experience this week with the Artist was very enjoyable because I was able to see pieces that I have never seen before. It was great getting to know the artist even more rather than just looking at their sculpture and figuring out what inspired them and what materials they used.
